A special day

Today marks the end of an era. Or perhaps, the start of a new one. Yesterday I had one child still living at home. Today is Timothy's 18th birthday, so he is now a young adult. An artificial boundary, of course, but a significant one. Under Cyprus law, he can now start to learn to drive. He could also get married, and can drink alcohol in public. He has no inclination to do either of the latter two at present, I'm thankful to say, but is VERY eager to learn to drive. A scary thought. Richard will call our insurance broker early next week: he's left it as long as possible, since the premium will more than double to insure someone under the age of 25.

Today is also, of course, the official Hobbit Day, since September 22nd is also Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' birthdays.

Hobbit Day! How delightful: we must celebrate somehow.

Happy Birthday Tim!

Have you tried CIS for insurance? Probably cheapest family deal in UK. Don't know about Cyprus though....

This might be a good age for kids in the US to learn to drive - don't think it will ever pass though. ec

I hope Tim had a lovely birthday! I feel bad, I didn't even get round to emailing him to wish him a happy birthday. But I hope he had a great party, and that he has fun learning to drive, finally! Send him my love. x
