Mysterious test pages on our printer

We have a laser printer that sits on a shelf unit next to my desk. Most of the time we keep it covered by a plastic printer-cover, since Cyprus is rather dusty, and dust does not improve printers.

But every so often, when I take the cover off in order to print something, I have noticed a 'test page' - one of those standard ones that ensures the printer is working correctly. Sometimes it's caught up in the printer, sometimes just sitting there after printing.

Very weird... none of us would print a test page unless we were having trouble with the printer for some reason. And we certainly wouldn't print one then just leave it there without using the printer for something else.

A couple of days ago, I was doing something else when I happened to hear the printer start, when the cover was still on. Was Tim printing something remotely, I wondered?

No.

Sophia had jumped up to sit on the printer, and had managed to land on the 'test page print' button.

Mystery solved.
